How Acrylic Keychain Printing Works
Acrylic keychains are printed using UV printing. Ink is applied directly onto the acrylic surface and cured instantly with ultraviolet light rather than being left to dry or absorb. Because the ink sits on the surface and hardens on contact, UV printing handles full-colour artwork, gradients, and fine detail on a non-porous material like acrylic — which conventional inks cannot bond to properly. The cured layer is also what makes the print scratch-resistant in daily use on keys and bags.

Preparing Artwork That Prints Correctly

Supply vector where possible — AI, EPS, or PDF. Vector artwork scales to any keychain size without softening, and the die-cut outline has to be a vector path regardless of what the rest of the artwork is.

Raster files need 300 DPI at final size — a logo pulled from a website is typically 72 DPI and will look soft once printed at 3.5cm. Check the resolution at the printed size, not on screen.

Use a transparent background on PNG files. A white box behind your logo will print as a white box, because the acrylic underneath is clear.

Convert text to outlines before sending, so the layout does not shift if a font is unavailable.

Keep fine detail away from the cut edge — thin strokes and small text sitting right on the die-cut line are the most common cause of a proof being sent back.

Decide single- or double-sided early. Double-sided needs both artworks supplied and aligned; on clear acrylic the reverse print is visible through the front, which affects how the design reads.
